The grants will be provided across 11 community organisations to promote conversations 'in their own voices'.
The federal government has launched a new initiative to promote awareness of organ and tissue donation among culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
The Organ and Tissue Authority is providing $400,000, to be shared across 11 community organisations to develop a range of digital resources and in-person events exploring various aspects of organ and tissue donation.
Melbourne-based marketing company Loft Social received the largest portion of funding and was given $80,000 to develop an educational video mini-series to be promoted by CALD social media influencers.
This was followed by the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia, which received $33,900 to establish a radio campaign to inspire conversations about organ donation among diverse communities.
Assistant Health and Aged Care Minister Ged Kearney said the investment was designed to “encourage conversations” among CALD communities to dispel misconceptions and spur greater uptake in organ and tissue donor registration
“We want more Australians to talk about organ and tissue donation, to tell their family that they want to be a donor, and importantly, to register,” she said.
“Australia is a diverse and multicultural country. These grants will help encourage conversations around organ and tissue donation with CALD communities in their own voices.”
“It’s so easy to register, it only takes one minute at donatelife.gov.au or just three taps in your Medicare app.”
