The first end-to-end EMR system for hospital-based oncology services is now available for public hospitals statewide.
Health tech Magentus has achieved a major milestone with its end-to-end oncology information system, Charm Evolution, now up and running across all Victorian public hospital sites.
The Gippsland Health Alliance network, representing Latrobe Regional Health, Central Gippsland Health Service, Bairnsdale Regional Health, West Gippsland Health Service, and Bass Coast Health, was the latest service to be involved in the integration, with Peninsula Health having rolled out the Charm Evolution system across its six major sites in November.
Implementation of the new information management system was facilitated using an integration engine combining Magentus’ Charm Evolution system with compounding software from Slade Health, Australia’s largest sterile chemotherapy compounder and a leading provider of specialised hospital pharmacy services including oncology and IVF.
“This integration exemplifies our commitment to advancing healthcare through innovative digital solutions,” Slade Health general manager for client relations Paula Clark said.
“By streamlining the ordering process, we are not only enhancing operational efficiency but also contributing to better patient outcomes across Victoria’s healthcare network.”
More than 150 items were successfully ordered through the Charm Evolution system on the first day of its operation across the Gippsland Health Alliance network, with pharmacists using the system reporting greater accuracy and ease in their workflows than before the integration, according to the announcement from Slade Health.
“We are proud to be supporting patient safety and the efficient delivery of accurate treatment through this important integration,” Magentus product lead Margot Mason said.
Victoria is now the second state in Australia to have implemented the Charm Evolution system to better coordinate oncology services provided through public hospitals, with Queensland rolling out the software across four of its major hospitals in late 2008.
Charm Evolution was also implemented across rural WA and at the Fiona Stanley Hospital earlier this year, while St John of God Health Care completed a national roll out of the system across its hospitals in October last year.
