The facility boasts 34 beds, four operating theatres, a new radiology clinic and a four-bed ‘high dependency unit’.
A new private hospital has opened on La Trobe University’s Melbourne campus, part of a $25 million re-development led by Healthscope.
The new hospital comprises 34 beds, four operating theatres, a new radiology clinic and a four-bed high dependency unit.
Clinical services will focus on orthopaedics, general surgery, plastic surgery and urology, with additional services provided by sister hospital Northpark Private Hospital, located only minutes away from La Trobe Private Hospital.
The hospital is situated within La Trobe’s University City of the Future precinct, a $5 billion project aimed at expanding the university’s 235-hectare campus to match local community needs as well as students’.
A new digital innovation hub offering a one-stop-shop for technological innovation across the healthcare, education and transport sectors, established by La Trobe in partnership with Cisco and Optus, also opened within the City of Future precinct in November last year.
Greg Horan, CEO of Healthscope, said the hospital’s expanded clinical services were crucial to meeting the growing demand for services among communities in North Melbourne.
“The redevelopment and re-opening of La Trobe Private will provide critical new healthcare services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing northern corridor, as well as continue our work to support and develop the next generation of healthcare professionals,” Mr Horan said.
“It’s very exciting to see this hospital now completed and fully operational.”
