Richard Weir replaces acting CTO Kieron McGarry.

eHealth NSW has appointed former director of DXC Technology for the Commonwealth Bank Richard Weir as its new chief technology officer and executive director of service delivery.

Mr Weir replaces Kieron McGarry who has been acting in the role since April 2023, when Farhoud Salimi left to become CTO over at Telstra Health.

Mr Weir managed DXC Technology’s CBA account for over two years, and prior to that CTO at PayVantage Global and ANZ for two years before that.

“Richard will oversee the management of the organisation’s statewide platforms and lead a Service Delivery team comprising more than 1,400 IT professionals across eight portfolios,” said eHealth NSW’s LinkedIn announcement.

“These encompass corporate and clinical application development and support, integration and technology services, data and business intelligence, along with Cloud and cyber security practices for NSW Health.”

Mr Weir said he was “really excited” about the new role.

“The single digital patient record, infrastructure upgrades and migration to the cloud strategy are going to revolutionise the way NSW health staff work, and importantly improve patient experience,” he said.
