Health tech Magentus will roll out eRequest at 2000 more locations across Australia, thanks to its new partnership with pathology giant Healius.
Global health tech Magentus is partnering with Australia’s second-largest pathology provider Healius to turbocharge the national rollout of its interoperable digital referral service.
The move means the referral solution will now reach the majority of Australia’s pathology testing sites.
eRequest allows clinicians to provide digital referrals to pathology labs and track test status in real-time.
The process, facilitated through Magentus’ practice management systems Genie and Gentu, delivers an SMS with testing details to the patient.
Patients can then take the tests at any of the provider’s testing locations.
The new partnership will add 2000 more testing sites to eRequest’s network, on top of the locations previously rolled out at Sonic Healthcare’s labs.
According to Magentus, 70% of all medical decisions and 100% of cancer diagnoses rely on pathology testing, demonstrating their significance.
Currently, two-thirds of all specialists use Magentus’ practice management solutions.
CEO of Magentus’ practice management division Michele Blanshard said the service would help clinicians efficiently track pathology requests.
“The status of tests being visible to the referring practice builds more collaborative relationships by improving transparency between practices and laboratories,” she said.
“We’re excited to be working with Healius to provide better experiences for patients, medical specialists and lab workforces alike.”
Healius CEO Paul Anderson said the solution “cuts wasteful duplication” of diagnostic services.
“This digital request solution … drives consumer choice, improves communication and visibility, and provides government with greater visibility of healthcare,” he added.
“It also reduces administrative overheads and saves clinicians, patients and labs significant amounts of time.
“Partnerships like this are the future of healthcare, ensuring people have all the support they need to provide the very best care.”
