Rebecca Wark will wrap up as NSW Health Infrastructure CEO in June, after five years in the role.

NSW Health’s statewide infrastructure service has announced the departure in June of CEO Rebecca Wark, who has worked in and around the agency for 16 years.

As Health Infrastructure CEO, Ms Wark has overseen the planning, design and construction of all health capital works worth more than $10 million across the state over the past five years.

Notable projects over that time have included the Campbelltown Hospital Redevelopment – stage 2 of which won two European Healthcare Design Awards – and the Royal Prince Alfred’s HealthOne facility at Green Square in central Sydney.

There are currently around 130 projects on the go.

Ms Wark said she was “immensely proud” of what the team had achieved over her tenure, especially given “unprecedented challenges in the construction sector”.

“But one of the things I’m most proud of is our great workplace culture and the care we show for each other,” she said.

“It’s been a focus of my leadership and is now the cornerstone of the relationships we have with our project partners and delivering for our communities.

“It has been a difficult decision to leave Health Infrastructure, however I look forward to celebrating our people and projects as they continue to achieve great things.”

Health Infrastructure’s COO Emma Skulander will step up as acting CEO while the search is on for Ms Wark’s replacement.

NSW Health secretary Susan Pearce AM and Health Infrastructure Board chair Lucio Di Bartolomeo both praised Ms Wark’s “vision and leadership” over a “busy and accomplished tenure”.

“Under Rebecca’s stewardship, [Health Infrastructure] has excelled in its delivery through some of the toughest challenges and economic conditions of our time,” they said.

“[Health Infrastructure] has garnered a strong reputation for excellence in its collaboration, forward thinking, governance and delivery standards to become a highly regarded partner across government and industry, nationally.”

The exact date of Ms Wark’s departure will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
