Various levels inside the new building are currently undergoing evaluation, with stage 2 works expected to get underway by early 2025.
Work is progressing on the $850 million Liverpool hospital redevelopment, one of the largest health infrastructure projects currently being undertaken by NSW government.
Several floors inside the new building have been completed and are now undergoing testing for essential services such as ventilation and air conditioning, as well as to ensure staff and community members can easily navigate through the new entrance and facilities, according to an announcement from Health Infrastructure NSW.
Stage 1 main works, on track to be completed by the end of the year, will deliver an expanded emergency department and neonatal intensive care unit as well as new birthing suites and renovations to existing maternity services.
The new building will also offer a new pathology department, enhanced outpatient and support services and upgrades to the hospital’s main entrance, with new signage recently installed on the hospital’s façade.
Stage 2 works are scheduled to start in 2025, including the construction of a new integrated services building combining outpatient clinics and inpatient units, additional women’s and children’s ambulatory care services, and expanded cancer services including the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) Oasis Wellness Centre.
