The rollout of Medicare funded urgent care clinics continues with two more added in Hobart.
A Medicare-funded urgent care clinic opened in Hobart yesterday with another slated to start seeing patients in the southern capitol later this month.
Your Medical Centre on Bathurst Street is open for business, the second Tasmanian UCC to get up and running. A third will be run by Ochre Medical Centre in Liverpool Street in a few weeks.
The clinics will be open extended hours, seven days a week, easing pressure on Royal Hobart Hospital.
Launceston’s UCC started seeing patients on 31 July. Tassie’s fourth UCC, to be located in the state’s north-west will be open by the end of the year, according to the DoHAC.
According to HSD’s records 21 Medicare UCCs are now operational across the country. The federal government has promised a total of 58 by the end of 2023.
