Kyra Flow gets new features to boost bed capacity, manage escalations and better connect ED and inpatient wards.

Telstra Health has boosted its patient capacity management tool Kyra Flow with new features that enable task coordination across a hospital, data analytics and better bed utilisation.

Kyra Flow’s latest release, version 11.9, integrates with Medtasker, a mobile communication and task management platform that securely directs messages, clinical photographs and escalations to relevant clinicians, in a privacy compliant way.

Chris Norton, who heads up hospital care at Telstra Health, said the latest release enables health care professionals to improve patient safety and increase hospital efficiency.

“The integration with Medtasker provides built-in escalation pathways that ensure the right task gets to the right clinician the first time, provides notifications to clinicians of results to review, and supports tasks across devices from tablets to smartphones,” he said.

He said Kyra Flow’s new bed management features would optimise bed management by tracking use and streamlining operations for better patient care.

“We’ve listened to our customers and delivered an uplift to the Bed Management View, providing a new real-time dashboard view with new functionality providing a birds-eye view of every bed utilisation in the hospital or health service,” Mr Norton said.

The third improvement to Kyra Flow is an IQ Notes Import upgrade that integrates IQ notes from the emergency department to the inpatient ward, “fostering collaboration and improving decision-making”.

Mr Norton said the IQ Notes Import enhancement would better enable “connectivity across the hospital care setting, assisting Kyra Flow users to manage patient information across multiple admissions”.

The three new features will be surrounded by a new data analytics solution that aims to “unlock operational insights” by gathering near real-time data and prevent information loss to support “proactive decision support” to optimise operational performance and patient flow.

“Kyra Flow’s enhanced Business Intelligence Solution provides the ability to understand operational performance in the same platform as clinical safety information, to enhance patient care and optimise patient flow while preventing information leakage,” Mr Norton said.
