All 58 clinics are now open, as promised. Let fireworks commence.
With three days to spare the Albanese government has delivered on its promise to open 58 Medicare urgent care clinics across the country by the end of 2023.
Today the last two clinics, Broome MUCC in WA and Morphett Vale MUCC in SA opened their doors to patients, while the only other clinic in doubt, Campbelltown opened just before Christmas, bringing the total to 58.
Across all Medicare UCCs, the largest proportion of patients have been children, with approximately one in three visits from someone under 15 years old, according to the Minister for Health Mark Butler today.
One in three visits have taken place on the weekend. Of visits taking place during weekdays, almost one in five have taken place at 6pm or later.
